CABANE BECS DE BOSSON TO CABANE DE MOIRY
17km 868m+ / 1025m-
Bonus Peak: Becs de Bosson (3148m) 2km, 273m+/-
Stage 4 allows for a little rest. The distance and gain is less than the average stage, and fewer hours out gives you extra time to relax and enjoy the view of glaciers and 4000-meter peaks from the deck of the Cabane de Moiry.
A fast descent from the pastel landscape of the Becs de Bosson leads to the Lac de Lona. After a short climb, the coral, sage, and tan colors are left behind for the alpine grey and glacier setting of the Moiry Valley and the unreal blue of the narrow lake. The stage finishes with a climb along a moraine to reach the hut at 2825 meters.
26km 1611m+ / 1111m-
Bonus Peak: Becs de Bosson (3148m) 2km, 273m+/-
Starting at the top of the Crêt du Midi lift from Vercorin, this 6 stage option tackles a longer first stage to join the official route and end at Cabane de Moiry. After its separate start from Vercorin, the route combines the final kilometers of STAGE 3 with all of STAGE 4. From there, it follows the same itinerary as STAGES 5-9. See the map.

Passing the clear Lac de Lona before the uphill to Basset de Lona.
A long descent to Lac de Moiry before running up into the alpine landscape in the top left of the image.
Up the moraine to the Cabane de Moiry, just visible above the runner on the skyline.
Evidence of the glaciers melting is very evident on the way to the Cab. de Moiry where warm tones, grassy pastures, and blue water of Lac de Moiry are left behind for grey rocks.
The Moiry hut is warm and cozy, but you'll want to turn in early for the pre-dawn start to the best of all bonus peaks, the Pigne de la Lé.
