There are a few options to reach Refuge de Loriaz and it's line-up of stone buildings, but we like to take the most scenic way to get to our favorite homemade blueberry lemonade.

Starting from Vallorcine, a short jog out of town puts you on a traversing trail through pastures. Soon you're cruising along soft pine needles in a forgotten forest. This cruising slows once you've passed Cascade de Barbarine, and the trail climbs steeply to Col du Passet. From this far corner of the run, you can have an overlook on the Emosson Dam before turning to begin the traverse across the mountainside. This traverse continues upwards towards Loriaz, expanding the view over the Chamonix valley with each curve. From the refuge, you drop back into the forest for a typical Chamonix, rocky-rooty quick descent back to the valley floor.

Now, about that blueberry lemonade... you may have noticed that the entire hillside is covered in blueberries. Hopefully, enough have been picked and you have several freshly made blueberry options waiting for you on the menu.
